I had a client who was a bridesmaid for a wedding. Let's call her Sue. Now, Sue had terrible skin. The worst pigmentation I've seen and she told me she was plagued by rashes and burning breakouts on her face. So I asked Sue what she was using and discovered it was a mineral makeup brand from the supermarket. Sue had no idea about the ingredients in the products she was using so we had a look. It's no wonder she was having problems. Clearly her skin was sensitive and she was doing herself no favours by smothering it in a cheap product full of chemicals and skin irritants. Sue was paying me for a full face of makeup that day and she was having professional photographs taken but because of her painful experiences with previous foundations she was really frightened about the foundation so I started by doing her eye makeup and lips. I'd already done Sue's sister's makeup and her mother and grandmother's makeup. Ninety-year-old Ada only wanted foundation and mascara and her skin absolutely loved the Arbonne perfecting liquid foundation - which did just that. If only I'd taken a before and after shot. The lines on her face vanished as the foundation took years off Ada's face and gave her skin a beautiful youthful glow – she said she couldn't believe the transformation and she wasn't the only one! She honestly looked 20 years younger. But I digress.

As I finished Sue's eyes and lips I was happy with the result, but disappointed that she hadn't reached her full potential. I knew no matter how good her eye makeup, her skin was just so bad that it would hide her true beauty in the photographs. As Sue looked at herself in the mirror, I reassured her that there was no need to be afraid about the Arbonne foundation, that she wouldn't experience the rashes and irritation caused by other brands, and she trusted me. In less than two minutes, Sue was a new woman. Again I should have taken a before and after photo. Gone was the awful pigmentation, the dry patches and uneven blemishes. Replaced by a beautiful, glowing, even complexion. And the way Sue's face lit up the second time she looked in the mirror, I'll never forget it.

I gave Sue a call a few days after the wedding to see how her skin reacted to the products. It didn't.

So let's talk shop and I promise I'll keep it simple. From an industry perspective, the fact that the Arbonne cosmetic range includes a primer proves it's a professional range.

As a professional makeup artist working on fashion shoots, weddings and photo-shoots under hot bright lights, a primer is normally an absolute must if you want the makeup to last. I work in a very humid, tropical climate and I enjoy putting products to the test in 31 degree heat and 90 percent humidity. Where other brands sweat off, Arbonne's perfecting liquid foundation just doesn't budge.

Another great test is to jump in a pool with a full face of foundation. I can't name names but leading brands streak and run with the water. Do the same with Arbonne's perfecting liquid foundation and it's water off a duck's back. Tears, perspiration, humidity no sweat.

By the way, I've never been a liquid foundation fan, they're always too heavy and really clogging. But that was before I discovered Arbonne's perfecting liquid foundation. As for application, it's as easy as applying suncream – you don't need a brush, use your fingers. Blending? What blending? There are 15 different shades so you don't have to mix colours. Smooth it on and you're out the door.

A Very Tropical Wedding

It was a busy day at the Shangri-La Hotel in Cairns today with a flurry of people all preparing for an afternoon wedding.

And it was certainly tropical! The humidity was unbelievable and with a thunderstorm looming on the horizon it was lucky the bridal party had mainly planned for an indoor event.

I am so excited ... I've just bought a brand new makeup case to fit the rapidily expanding stock of makeup that I have...

I met Bec and Crystal from Perth this morning. They are both guests at a wedding at Palm Cove and they booked me to do their makeup so I was able to try out some of my new eyeshadows!

Tomorrow I am holding a one hour makeup class for a lady who is in Cairns on holidays. I'll be giving her lots of tips and teaching her some of the tricks that I use as a professional. We'll also talk about how to choose the right colours and I'll also teach her ways to enhance her facial features by contouring and highlighting.

Busy Weekend of Weddings

Friday... one makeup at The Sea Temple in Palm Cove before heading into Cairns to do 3 makeup for the bridal party's guests.

Saturday... out to Woree to meet Kylisha from Sydney. Jetstar had lost half her luggage but luckily she had the clothes she needed for her Sister-In-Law's wedding in Palm Cove that afternoon. From Kylisha to Courtney - I had the pleasure of doing the makeup for the inspirational woman behind the Pretty In Pink event at Cannon Park. The event was a huge success and a really enjoyable day.

Sunday... 10.30am start in Port Douglas making Tracey and her two daughters look beautiful. The family was on holidays from Melbourne. A quick stop at Palm Cove on the way home to do Katherine's makeup and that's a wrap for another busy but very enjoyable weekend of beautiful makeovers.

3 Weddings in one day!

I had a 5.30am start from Cairns this morning up the coast road to Port Douglas for 3 weddings.

Sorry there are no photos with this post as there just wasn't any time to take pictures!! However, as soon as I have the professional shots back I will post them.

The first bridal party to be made up was Caroline's at the Port Douglas Central Plaza Appartments.

Caroline used to live in Cairns but after being made redundant by CEC she was forced to find work further afield and ended up on a mine site at Karratha in WA. Welcome home Caroline - if only briefly. There's no time for a honeymoon as Caroline has to be back at work next week!

Next I was off to the Balboa Appartments to meet Jennifer and her bridal party who'd come all the way from Ireland for a ceremony at the St Mary's By The Sea chapel.

Back to the Central Plaza Appartments to make Kerrie and her bridal party look beautiful before calling it a day.

Wedding Dramas!

Alicia and Johhny were married today at St Mary's By the Sea Chapel in Port Douglas.

But the day wasn't without its dramas!

The bridal party is staying at the exclusive Bali Hai Retreat in the rainforest north of Mossman.

This morning the catering truck for their wedding reception took a turn for the worst and rolled off the road and down an embankment before coming to rest in a cane paddock...

The driver was taken to Mossman Hospital...

While the rest of the catering crew continued setting up under the marquee.

Unfortunately, the Emergency Department at Mossman Hospital is a venue which this bridal party from Brisbane and Sydney is fast becoming familiar with.

Earlier today one of Alicia's bridesmaids was anxiously awaiting news after her partner tripped over and had to be taken to the hospital for stitches. Could anything else go wrong! Let's hope not.

At least the hair and makeup went well...

All seven women looked fabulous and despite the day's drama, Alicia was the absolute picture of perfection and remained completely calm throughout.

Michelle and Rick were married in Cairns on the 1st of May 2010.

In a bizarre twist, Michelle booked me to do her makeup without realising we went to school together, so what began as a simple booking turned into a mini re-union.

When I arrived on the morning of Michelle's wedding day to do six makeup I was pleasantly surprised to learn that among the six would be Michelle's older sister Kirsten who was one of my high school teachers and also Stacey Coglan, a former student who was my House Captain.

All of Michelle's bridesmaids were lovely and it is was a very enjoyable morning.

Just finished doing makeup in Port Douglas for Kristy from Newcastle and her two lovely bridesmaids.

It's far from a perfect day for the wedding but the clouds did clear briefly.

So long as it doesn't rain Kristy should get some great photos.
